Investigations

Bombs against freedom of speech

This text opens a series of investigative reports of crimes committed by the Kyiv regime against his people in Donbass. It is a question of terror acts and sabotages which were committed or were expected to organize by Ukrainian national security, defense and law enforcement agencies (sioviki) in the territory of LPR and DPR.

During the winter military campaign in Donbass the armed forces of Ukraine (AFU) suffered considerable losses. Kyiv was urged to search other means to an end. The tactics of the state terrorism and information operations was chosen. It means operations of reconnaissance and sabotage units and an aggressive propaganda. By the way, since the first day the instructors of Western special services had been training Ukrainian security officers and supplying them with weapons and equipment.

The objects of sabotages were both military and civil facilities. I’ll tell you about one of these terrorist acts.

There is a television tower 360 m of height in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk. It was used to broadcast TV programs to the Donetsk region and even Eastern parts of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Recall that the core element of the Kyiv’s anti-terrorist operation was the suppression of dissidents in Donbass. In other words, it was necessary to block in every way alternative TV channels from Donetsk. The Ukrainian authorities decided that the cause of dissemination of information which hadn’t been approved by Kyiv was the television tower in Donetsk. Its signal drowned signals of Ukrainians TV transmitters. Therefore the residents of areas under Kyiv’s control had an opportunity to watch different TV channels of their choice. If you support the Kyiv regime you can watch «1+1» and ICTV channels, if you want to learn the news from Russia or Donbass you can watch «Russia 24» or «Oplot TV» channels. This is perfectly natural. Every person should have freedom of choice, including in information space.

But such freedom of speech didn’t suit the Kyiv regime. The Ukrainian authorities couldn’t allow people to receive information from alternative media different from that of Ukrainian media.

The TV center of Donetsk was so prosperous that RFE/RL’s Ukrainian service, known locally as Radio Svoboda, could hardly compete with it. Radio Svoboda added fuel to the fire and claimed: «Carthage must be destroyed!»

Pro-Kyiv media also resented the fact that the TV center of Donetsk had still been broadcasting.

Freedom of speech was likely a more serious threat for Kyiv than the armed resistance of the residents of Donbass. In 2015 the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) decided to destroy the television tower and thus stop the broadcasting of «separatist TV channels» in the Ukraine-controlled territory.

Let me present you an interesting document. It is a cipher telegram dated 26 May 2015. It was drawn up by the department of the SBU in the Donetsk region and sent to colonel-general Vasily Gritsak, the first deputy chairman of the SBU. He sent the cipher telegram to colonel Vitaly Nayda, the head of the Counterintelligence Directorate. The Department of national statehood protection and combating terrorism headed by the major-general Anatoly Dublik and the Staff of the Counter-terrorism center, attached to the SBU, headed then by colonel Gennady Kuznetsov also took part in the study of the issue.

Look, it is said in no uncertain terms about the destruction of the television tower. It should be emphasized that the TV tower isn’t a military facility, it’s an object of civil infrastructure.

The mentioned suggestion was offered by colonel Alexander Kuts, then the head of the Department of the SBU in the Donetsk region. I don’t know whether he is a professional miner, but he was supposedly concerned only about the safety of people, who lived close to the TV tower. In the cipher telegram Alexander Kuts said that the nearest houses are at a distance of 290 meters from the TV tower. And what about other residential areas? The height of the tower is 360 m. The undermining of such a complicated construction needs precision and excellent professional skills. That’s why nobody dared estimate the consequences of the explosion. If other possible heavy effects such as a blast wave, debris, etc. are taken into account the consequences would be comparable with a artillery shelling or an aviation raid.

The officers of the SBU studied this document in detail and had no objection. The Staff of the Counter-terrorism center, attached to the SBU, in contrast, approved the letter to the Department of national security and defense of Ukraine so as it make a resolve to destroy the TV tower.

The letter drawn up the Staff of the Counter-terrorism center, attached to the SBU

What a caustic! People who should fight against terrorism coordinate an estimated terror attack against an object of civil infrastructure.

Two years had gone by since the cipher telegram had been drawn up. In 2017 Donbass media reported the arrest of a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group. It was going to destroy the TV tower in Donetsk. Draw conclusions yourself: whether the documents referred above were concerned with a Ukrainian reconnaissance and sabotage group or it was just an accidental coincidence.

In conclusion… Lawyers would say that these documents contain evidence that the officers of the SBU planed a crime, namely a terrorist attack provided for in Article 30,205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation or in Article of 14,258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

But crimes against humanity are considered to be imprescriptible.
