The HK Prize Fund
The Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) is the official operator of horse race and football betting in Hong Kong as well as Mark Six lottery. Committed to providing fairness and integrity in prize draws, employee from security and customer service departments regularly inspect materials used from boxing to transport for use during prize draws; following each draw both balls and machine are locked safely away into storage locations for safekeeping.
HKJC’s dedication to maintaining an attractive prize fund is one of the reasons behind the record total prize money and incentives that will be distributed this 2022/23 racing season. Furthermore, an incentive system will be introduced that rewards owners and trainers for keeping horses in Hong Kong.
HKJC-backed athletes earned bonus prizes this year for their Olympic achievements. Fencing champion Vivian Cheung earned a bonus of HK$6 Million through the Athlete Incentive Awards Scheme; swimmer Siobhan Haughey collected one worth HK$3 Million under Swimming Incentive Awards Scheme.
At the Hong Kong Marathon, runners also stand a chance of reaping lucrative prizes when competing. This year alone, over HK$10 million in awards are up for grabs for runners who finish full and half marathon races within three hours for men and under three for women respectively.
As such, this race has attracted an international field from over 101 countries and regions – making it an attractive option for runners wanting a challenge! Participants often look forward to taking on Asia’s toughest road race!
At the 2024 Summer Olympics, other HKJC-supported athletes also received bonus prizes, with swimmer Siobhan Haughey winning bronze medals in the 200m freestyle and 100m freestyle events. Fencing champions Edgar Cheung Ka-long and Vivian Cheung receiving bonuses under the Athlete Incentive Award Scheme; winning the gold medal in synchronized 3 400 metres brought an extra HK$9 Million award payment.
