The HK Prize is an international competition that honors scientists whose research has had a substantial effect on society. Open to researchers worldwide and selected through an independent process without sponsorship or committee influence, its winners receive both monetary prizes as well as having their work displayed worldwide. If you’re considering entering this highly regarded competition, be sure to carefully read over its rules and regulations first before applying.

This year’s HK$2 Million Prize from the Hong Kong Film Development Fund and Asia Television Fund will go to an outstanding feature film that explores identity in Asia through cinematic language. The winner will be invited to Hong Kong to receive their award during a special ceremony scheduled for late September or October.

Generocity’s aim in hosting this competition is to encourage individuals and teams alike to devise innovative ideas which contribute to global development and international cooperation efforts in Hong Kong. Generocity promotes and supports social innovation.

Participants may submit proposals in any of three categories: entrepreneurship and social innovation, social impact and arts and culture. Winners will not only receive cash prizes but will also receive support to further develop their projects.

To enter, students must be nominated by their teachers before 16 September; nomination deadline. Once all nominations have been received, a panel of judges will select 20 shortlisted works for further review; the Public Vote Prize of HK$4,000 will go to the student artist with the most votes from the public, while their school will also receive an award of HK$10K as recognition for this achievement.

The Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Prize is a biannual competition to recognize scientific achievements in Life and Health, New Materials/New Energy/Advanced Manufacturing fields. Sponsored by Hongkong Bank and administered by the Hong Kong Science and Technology Council. This HK$1 Million Prize Award.

The Hong Kong Film Awards is an annual ceremony that recognizes Hong Kong’s finest films produced within its borders. A jury composed of representatives from 13 professional film bodies in Hong Kong selects films eligible for consideration and films must have been commercially released within Hong Kong to be considered. Raging Fire directed by Benny Chan starring Donnie Yen won several awards this year including Best Film, Best Editing and Most Popular Film awards; making it one of the highest grossing movies this year.
