The Sidney Prize is an award presented to individuals who have made exceptional contributions to society. It recognizes their efforts while inspiring others. Sidney Iwanter (B.A. ’71, History) established the Sydney Iwanter Prize to commemorate his profound interest in past legacy and pass along that curiosity to future generations. Iwanter took his passion one step further by secretly recording Harvey Goldberg lectures so as to later donate them back to UW-Madison as “bootlegs.”

Additionally, fellowships exist to aid history students. Examples include the Beatrice B. Sears Scholarship in British History for undergraduate and graduate students alike; Dorrance H. Davidson Fellowship is limited to undergraduates only; Horace M Peterson Memorial Scholarship recognizes outstanding senior history majors while William L. Mantooth-Esteph-Step Scholarship awards Oklahoma history scholarships.

This award is an impressive scholarship that can give you an edge among peers while providing valuable work experience and networking opportunities with fellow law students.
