What is a Sydney Prize?
A sidney prize is an award designed to recognize those who have made an impactful contribution to society, including work with communities or contributions in science or the arts. These awards provide an incentive for hard work while rewarding those who have done it already – each prize may have different criteria as to whom should receive them.
There are various ways you can apply for a Sydney Prize, and it is wise to do it early as this increases your chances of success and fulfills all requirements for winning an award. Furthermore, doing research first will allow you to ensure you know exactly which criteria must be fulfilled prior to submitting an application form.
The SS Sydney Prize is presented each month to American journalists whose writing appears in magazines, newspapers, news websites or blogs, television or radio news programs, or published photography series. The winner is announced by the last day of each month and named in honour of SS member Sidney Hook – this prize aims to shed light on important contemporary issues from lasting peace negotiations to housing, healthcare, employment security for all people as well as promotion of civil liberties and democracy against discrimination based on race or nationality.
SS Sydney Prize has been presented to various individuals, such as Ta-Nehisi Coates for his essay on America’s history of black plunder and white democracy and Amanda Hess for her essay on online sexism. Furthermore, this prize has also been bestowed upon Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi for leading Black Lives Matter movement as leaders.
People across the world are working tirelessly to better their world, so it is vital that their efforts are recognized for.
