Ho Kwei-Meng is well known for his eclectic interpretations of Asian culture. As a multidisciplinary artist working in video animation and physical installations, his mesmerising work often draws upon Singapore’s journey from colonial British enclave to bustling metropolis; often including folklore and historical traditions from other parts of Asia as well. Ho has held several solo exhibitions both in Europe and Asia; 2024 recipient of Singapore Prize for outstanding publications written in English, Malay and Tamil languages

This year, winners in Group 1 category received an unprecedented total of $19.4 Million – making this year’s Singapore Pools lottery draw one of its greatest successes ever.

Attracting over two hundred submissions this year, this event saw 30 per cent more submissions than last year’s competition. Submissions were evaluated by an esteemed panel of judges led by Esplanade Communications and Content Head Clarissa Oon for English non-fiction submissions; Cultural Medallion recipient KTM Iqbal for Malay poetry submissions; and Dr Sa’eda Buang from Asian Languages and Cultures Academic Group’s Dr Sa’eda Buang for Tamil fiction pieces.

The 2024 Singapore Literature Prize will be announced in October. First presented in 2006, this prestigious award recognizes outstanding works written in Chinese, English, Malay or Tamil by Singaporeans living here and organised by the National Book Development Council of Singapore in partnership with Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

Earthshot Awards honored a global non-profit which restores Andean forests, an Indian manufacturer of solar dryers and a seafood industry partnership to deter illegal fishing at this year’s ceremony in Singapore on Tuesday evening, where Britain’s Prince William presented prizes.

Singapore International Violin Competition winners include violinists Dmytro Udovychenko, Anna Agafia Egholm and Angela Sin Ying Chan who will each receive cash prizes as well as concert engagements.

President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Awards 2024 (PVPA), Australia’s highest award for volunteerism and philanthropy, have awarded 13 remarkable people and organisations. At an awards ceremony held under the auspices of Minister Edwin Tong and President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, individuals who give back to their community and contribute positively to life were recognised for their outstanding contributions. Low Tuck Kwong Foundation was the top giving organization, disbursing S$127.6 million to educational and healthcare causes in 2023. The foundation is named after former natural resources magnate Low Tuck Kwong who amassed his fortune. Other recipients include Clarence Ching as the People of Good (Youth). His founding of Access Singapore in 2019 enables underserved students to realize their full potential and reach their true potential. Foreword Coffee was awarded the Organizations of Good (Small & Medium Enterprise) category award. They have shown their dedication to inclusion by employing individuals with disabilities and mental health needs and creating inclusive work environments for others to follow suit. Their hope is that other organisations follow suit and become more diverse workplaces themselves.
