The Hongkong Prize For Science and Creativity

Hong Kong has long been a vibrant center for culture and creativity, reflecting global change through various forms of art. As Hollywood is not always available, Hong Kong also serves as one of the world’s second-largest film markets – second only to Hollywood itself. Last month, an unorthodox film about the future of Hong Kong won top prize at its film awards ceremony; although its depiction of how Beijing plans on tightening control by 2025 angered Beijing considerably; its final scene, showing protester self-immolating before the British consulate, left many in tears.

The BOCHK SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION PRIZE was created to recognize outstanding scientists who demonstrate a keen desire to explore and apply their research findings for the benefit of society. Winners will receive cash awards as well as opportunities to conduct their studies at Hong Kong universities or laboratories and meet up with international experts in their respective fields.

Hong Kong offers an abundance of vibrant cultures to discover during a visit, from ancient traditions to modern trends. A dedicated team will assist participants in designing an experience tailored to their interests and needs; providing an opportunity for deeper knowledge about both its people and culture, and to make new contacts among researchers or industry partners.

Winners will not only gain financial reward from this prize but will also benefit from networking and collaboration opportunities with leading Hong Kong scientists that will further their career development. The BOCHK SCIENCE AND THINGS INNOVATION PRIZE is a merit-based international scientific prize hosted by Hong Kong Alliance of Technology and Innovation with title sponsor Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited; its charter encourages scientific management for betterment of humanity in future.

Winners will be selected in three waves – Southeast Asian residents, mainland Chinese residents and finally international residents will all have equal chances to become winners of this competition and fly out to Hong Kong to experience its rich culture first-hand. All applicants who register and submit an application will enjoy an unforgettable cultural experience and can look forward to an additional cash award of HK$10,000 should they win the Grand Award.
